Music Miscellany for December 26th, 2013

First up the lead single by Melissa Laveaux “Pie Bwa” from the album Memory is a Strange Bell.  It is a variation on Billie Holiday’s classic “Strange Fruit” sung from the point of view of a blood stained tree.  The song is sung entirely in Creole. She also does a pretty kick butt version of Weezer’s “Hash Pipe.”

Up next is singer-songwriter Diane Cluck and her new single ‘Sara’ from her upcoming album Boneset which is due out on March 4th, 2014.

And we end this set with a new one from Nir Felder called “Sketch 2” from his upcoming album Golden Age due out in January ’14.  Nir mixes jazz guitar, hip hop beats, and on this track some historic speeches to bring about a unique sound.
